Challenge |
Set up
surveillance cameras in several high traffic
locations in the Toll Packaging Group warehouse
and packaging locations. For this
particular solution, IP-based cameras were
chosen so multiple members of the administration
staff could simultaneously view camera images,
without the need to split the traditional
coaxial signals

|
Solution |
AXIS IP server-based
cameras
AXIS monitoring software, placed on
administration computers
|
|
Benefits |
Increased security of important areas
Reduction in costs associated with adjusted
inventory
Multiple, secure viewing consoles for
administration

Project Details |
Since 1975, Toll Packaging Group has been
setting and raising the standards in specialty
products' packaging. Their facility
covers 100,000 square feet, which includes a
raw warehouse, production area, finished goods
warehouse, and management offices.
After the Bioterrorism Act of 2002, which would
eventually require all food-related industries
to properly monitor their facilities, Toll chose to
invest in a better security system, which
included camera surveillance. Because they
already had an existing network structure set
up, which includes strategically located
switches, IP-based cameras were the best fit.
Also, because of the distance of the cameras
from proper monitoring facilities,
traditional coaxial wiring would have required
numerous signal boosters throughout the run.
The cameras are located high enough to provide
large viewing angles and to disable tampering.
General Manager Mike Grubich says, "We were just having
too many issues with petty theft and break-ins that could
be prevented or captured
with a proper surveillance system.
Security was becoming a serious issue at our
building and we wanted to make sure areas were
properly monitored."
Current and potential clients at Toll Packaging
are impressed with Toll Packaging's new
surveillance system. "It is currently rare
to see a system like this at packaging
facilities such as ours", notes Grubich.
The installation has also decreased random
thefts, as everyone has become aware of
administration's ability to review video
capture.
MCSOT installed seven cameras in locations that
included high traffic areas and major entrances
to the building. Because the cameras are
IP server-based, upper management is able to
securely review video capture from their
workstations.
"We could not be happier with these new cameras.
The software provided is very easy to use.
The timeline software that allows us to review
previous days easily allows
us to review information and videos."
